OMG

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday the solution to the Middle East crisis was to destroy Israel, Iranian state media reported.

In a speech during an emergency meeting of Muslim leaders in Malaysia, Ahmadinejad also called for an immediate cease-fire to end the fighting between Israel and the Iranian-back group Hezbollah. "Although the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented," Ahmadinejad said, according to state-run television in a report posted on its Web site.

ramblings

I havent posted for awhile, just busy.  Im going on vacation for a week, so there wont be much next week either....

But a couple of things are getting to me...

1)  there is a big news story about how the marines in Haditha deliberately killed civilians....  well DUH...   Its not at issue whether they killed civilians, its whether or not they followed their  ROE or not!  This is war.  Its horrible when civilians get killed, but the MSM seems to cut more slack to Hezbollah or other terrorists than our own Marines.  The marines should be innocent until proven guilty!!!  Maybe the marines were within their guidelines and ROE when this incident took place.

2)  The MSM coverage of the war in Lebanon is pathetic.  I saw one story, and havent seen anything about it again, of the Northern Israelis who are sleeping in camping tents in a makeshift city on a beach in Southern Israel.   But I keep seeing alot of stories of the horrible lives of the lebanonese, etc....   And the Qana incident seems like BS to me.  I have been reading blogs about the state of the bodies, how long it took for the building to collapse, etc.

Holy Cities

Why is it that MSM refers to Islamic cities as "Holy", as in the holy city of Medina, but doesn not do the same for Christian cities???  i.e. Jerulsem or Nazarith???

Bolton at the UN

U.N., LEBANON & BOLTON

Getting word that the UN Security Council is meeting now to consider a "presidential statement" on the situation in Lebanon. I'm printing Ambassador John Bolton's full statement to the UNSC's Special Public Session on Lebanon below the jump:

Statement by Ambassador John R. Bolton, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, in the Special Public Session on Lebanon, in the Security Council, July 14, 2006

Mr. President, in recent days and weeks, we have seen an outbreak of violence in the Middle East, sparked by attacks and kidnappings which Hamas and Hizballah carried out against Israel. Events continue to develop even as we speak.

Hizballah’s incursions across the Blue Line on July 12 were a deliberate and premeditated provocation intended to undermine regional stability and are contrary to the interests of both the Lebanese and Israeli people. We unequivocally condemn the kidnapping by Hizballah, a terrorist organization, of two Israeli soldiers and call for their immediate and unconditional release.

Provocations across the Blue Line by terrorist groups highlight the urgent need for full and immediate compliance by Syria and Hizballah with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including 1559, 1583, 1655, and 1680.

The international community has made clear its desire to see the central authority of the Government of Lebanon extended throughout the country.

In this context, we underscore the importance of the Security Council President’s statement of June 18, 2000 and the Secretary-General’s conclusion that as of June 16, 2000, Israel had withdrawn all its forces from Lebanon in accordance with UNSC resolution 425 and met the requirements defined in the Secretary-General’s May 22, 2000 report.

As President Bush said yesterday, we are concerned about the fragile democracy in Lebanon. While we have been working very hard with partners to strengthen the democracy in Lebanon, we are also making clear that the democratic aspirations of the Lebanese people must not be undermined by the irresponsible and destabilizing actions of Hizballah.

We have repeatedly made clear to Lebanon and Syria our serious concern about the presence of terrorist groups on their soil and the periodic attacks against Israel from groups and individuals in southern Lebanon.

All militias in Lebanon, including Hizballah, must disarm and disband immediately and the Lebanese government must extend and exercise its sole and exclusive control over all Lebanese territory.

President Bush has made clear that Syria and Iran must be held to account for supporting regional terrorism and their role in the current crisis. Syria provides safe haven to the militant wing of Hamas and provides material support to Hizballah, which also maintains an active presence in Syria. Iran’s extensive sponsorship and financial and other support of Hizballah is well known and has been ongoing for decades. No reckoning with Hizballah will be adequate without a reckoning with its principal state sponsors of terror.

We call on Syria and Iran to cease their sponsorship and support of terrorist groups, in particular Hizballah and Hamas. For the third time in two weeks, we again call on Syria to arrest Hamas leader Khaled Meshal, who currently lives in Damascus. There is no excuse for a member state of the United Nations to continue to knowingly harbor a recognized terrorist.

The Secretary General’s decision to send a senior level team to the region is a development that is welcomed by my government.

We are also engaged with the primary parties and other concerned leaders to help restore calm and achieve a resolution to this crisis. In fact, senior U.S. officials are in Jerusalem today for meetings.

All parties in the region must accept their responsibilities for maintaining security and stability. We urge all parties to accept the principle that governments must exercise sovereign control over territory.

The United States remains firmly committed to working with others not only to resolve the present situation but toward building longer-term peace and stability in the region.

It is becoming a regional war

The middle east is devolving into a regional war.  It appears that Iran is the main power behind this increase in aggression and violence.  It has become apparent to me that Iran has gotten Hezzbolah and Hamas to do their dirty work.  The wack job Iranian President was in Syria right before this latest attack talking with the Hezzbolah leader.  I imagine this is to cause enough trouble and strife to keep the World occupied with this mess, rather than dealing with Iran's nuclear ambitions.   Just think what would happen, given the terrorists' actions, if Iran did get the bomb.  What are we, the USA, going to do?  I fear nothing....

It is very clear now that the Arab/Islamic terrorists dont want peace, dont want to have a 2 state solution, they want Israel destroyed.  Israel left the Gaza and Northern Lebanon.  Instead of trying to turn that area into a viable State, the terrorists have just used those areas as a launching pad for their attacks.

I hope Israel, with or without our help, will do what it has to do to take care of their security.  That includes dealing with Syria and Iran.

My heart goes out to all those innocent civilians that will be hurt.

War?

If it looks like War, smells like War, sounds like War, its War...

Apparently that is what is going to occur in the Middle East.  The Islamic terrorists/militias/governments look determined to draw Israel into War.  It looks like they want to drag the whole Middle East into a Islamic vs. the west (including Israel) War.  And they will then start to peel off the weak allies - old Europe, etc. from the west's side....
